Simple Side Dishes: Garlic Green Beans
These garlicky green beans are one of my go-to side dishes. Sometimes, I just pile in a whole bag of the prepped green beans, and call that a meal. They are so satisfying! For this recipe, I do use an air fryer. I resisted for a long time, but now I look for reasons to cook with this piece of equipment.
Garlic Green Beans
1 12 oz package of prepped green beans
1-2 tsp of bacon grease
garlic salt to taste
Spread the green beans evenly in the air fryer basket. I spoon out the bacon grease, and toss the beans with the grease. There should not be a lot of excess grease. Every green bean should be barely coated with the grease. Sprinkle garlic salt evenly over the top of the green beans. I have cooked the beans at both 6 & 7 minutes at 370 Fahrenheit, and they were good both times. So this just depends on how you like your green beans.
Don't have bacon grease? You can use olive oil or butter. I just think the grease adds a bit of flavor to the dish. You can add some freshly cracked black pepper, but I enjoy the simplicity of this side dish. Like a precise measurement for the garlic salt? Start by adding a quarter of a teaspoon. Once you cook the dish, see how it tastes and adjust from there.
Once you try them, let me know what you think! What's your go to side dish?
